Memoir writing as a form of artistic spiritual activity and research With Kelly Connor For further information contact Kelly Connor on 01342 823 820. |
 |
Saturday 3rd April 10am - 5pm £1 - No bookings required |
 |
Rudolf Steiner's final deed was writing his memoir. He wrote his autobiography in weekly instalments for seventy weeks. The last chapter was published five days after his death on 30 March 1925. He had written to the very end and stopped, interrupted, as it were, in mid-sentence describing the artistic impulse of the Munich Congress. What is the spiritual and artistic significance of this final deed? Is Steiner showing us the importance of artistically engaging with, and spiritually researching, our own biography? Can our striving to live a true anthroposophical life be enhanced through writing our own memoir?

What if your thinking could be unencumbered by your biography and biology? Pure thinking is spiritual activity. Spiritual activity is freedom. Ordinary thinking, even if it is independent and highly developed, is encumbered and seduced by bodily sensation.
This is a workshop for all of us to courageously experience the creative space of 'negative capability'. No matter how naive or sophisticated your relationship is to thinking, whether you meditate or not, come for an afternoon of compassionate and good-humored spiritual striving. Bring a notebook and a curious heart. |
