Understanding the Angelic Realms and How to Work with Them With Philip Martyn |
Sunday 20th April 2.30pm - 5pm £5/£3 concessions |
Religious and spiritual writings have always made reference to beings from the spiritual hierarchies, especially those known in Christian tradition as Angels. These spirits are the closest to human beings and act as our invisible guides and companions. They influence the life of the individual as well as the evolution of humanity and the cosmos. This workshop explains why it is important for us to understand and cooperate with the work of the Angels today. Philip Martyn works in the City and is Joint General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain.

The Process of Incarnation of the Soul in Connection with Embryology With the Rev. Pearl Goodwin |
Saturday 17th May 2pm - 5pm £5/£3 concessions |
Human life arises out of an encounter between the rhythms of the cosmos and the rhythms of the Earth. During this workshop we will explore how that part of our being that lives in the spiritual world takes hold of the physical and shapes it into a growing, living embryo. Working with the insights offered by Dr. Rudolf Steiner we will consider the many influences that nurture and develop the soul during its passage towards the earthly realm, and how the spiritual becomes more and more incarnated into the physical during this rapidly changing period of our lives. The Rev. Pearl Goodwin is a mother and a longstanding priest of the Christian Community, the movement for religious renewal founded on the work of Rudolf Steiner. She trained in embryology, and unites her scientific training with her work as a priest.

Working with the Other With Daniel Skinner This theatre workshop - working with voice, mask, improvisation and presence - is an opportunity to recognise and begin to map the interior 'Other' - our hidden or shadow selves. |
Sunday 18th May 9.30am - 5.30pm £35/£18 concessions All bookings by reservation only |
Supported by an atmosphere of trust, workshop participants can develop an awareness of shadow identities and dynamics in us which are often hidden and so tend to be projected onto others. Through drama exercises a developed consciousness of these forces can arise, allowing the boundaries of the shadow to be perceived in a new way. This is an exploratory performance-oriented workshop which does not claim to offer therapeutic solutions but seeks to find capacities of integration and ways of working with partners and colleagues. Highly valuable for teachers, public speakers, performers, the workshop is open to anyone who wishes to find pathways to the unknown self. Previous drama experience is not required, but a commitment to a shared process is welcome. Daniel Skinner was co-founder, actor and director of The Rose Theatre Company and has performed internationally Rudolf Steiner's Mystery Dramas. He is currently completing a PhD in Theatre Studies at Dartington College on the theme the shadow as a performative tool for transformation. He has given workshops on the theme of the shadow all over the world, and is now developing a woodland arts environment in Kent.

Etheric Forces and the Geological Conditions which Create the Conditions for Sacred Geographical Locations (Sylvia Francke)
According to Rudolf Steiner's spiritual science, super-earthly forces have governed the formation of the many different geological conditions all over our planet. This is the case both on the surface and in the regions below. Geology is the material manifestation of living forces that formed the Earth in distant times and which continues to provide a material indicator for these forces which manifest the 'etheric' geography of the Earth. Where these forces are still especially prevalent, one can often find that the ancients had indicated their presence by revering them as sacred sites and, in some cases by building shrines or stone circles over them. If one studies the positioning of sacred buildings or locations one can, in most cases, refer to the geological map and find there physical corroboration for the intensified presence of these super-earthly forces which manifest where there are fault lines, where there is the meeting of different strata and often where the surface of the Earth has worn away to expose deeper geological conditions. High regions of the Earth, such as the Himalayas manifest one kind of experience, while the low-lying position of the Dead Sea region in Palestine has provided the pre-conditions for the greatest physical mystery ever to have taken place on Earth: The Mystery of Golgotha. Etheric forces working in the Plant (David Lowe) (appr. start 4.30 pm) Looking at the plant we are faced with the question of how the wonderful variety of plant forms come about. What forces are working on the different parts of the plant and how does this relate to the places where plants grow? Rudolf Steiner described the plant as a living imagination. Through looking at plants in a Goethean way we can strengthen the power of our own imaginations. |
