    Join Early Childhood Experts Dorothy Marlen & Sam Greshoff to explore the benefits of outdoor childcare. Models and approaches of holistic outdoor care for young children that work in a variety of different early childhood settings. 
     
    What is necessary and also what is unnecessary in Early Childhood provision in order to ensure that children truly experience the natural world?
    The workshops will be run online via Zoom. Each workshop will be a stimulating mix of new theories and ideas, group work, and craft tutorials. Participants are welcome to attend all or one of the workshops.

    About The Teachers
    dorothy marlen
    Dorothy Marlen is the course leader of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Baby and Child Care (Early Years Educator). She originally trained as a Steiner Early Years teacher and a counsellor, and has over 20 years’ experience of working with parents and carers of very young children.
    Dorothy has authored a book called The Parent and Child Group Handbook. Hawthorn Press and writes articles for journals and magazines.
    Training in the Pikler approach at the Pikler Institute in Budapest Level 1 and 2, with Resources for Infant Educarers in the USA, and in Psychoanalytic Child Observation at the Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy brought a new depth and sensitivity to her understanding of the needs of the very young child.
    From 2012-2104 Dorothy organised the first  European Pikler Associated accredited Pikler Basic and advanced practice guidances courses in the UK. She co-founded the Pikler UK Association and was chair for 7 years. She has also been the Birth to Three representative on the Steiner Waldorf Early Years Steering group and chair of the Steiner Birth to Three working group. For the last 10 years she has run parent and infant support groups called Gentle Beginings. They are based on Rudolf Steiner's understanding of early childhood and the Pikler approach.
    She offers consultancy to mainstream baby and infant rooms as well as in Steiner/Waldorf birth to three care settings.
     
    Sam Greshoff
    Sam Greshoff began her involvement in Early Years Education and Care setting up and working in Steiner Waldorf Parent and Child Groups in London and later in Canterbury. This has led to her ongoing interest in working with young children and their parents. She has represented Parent and Child Group Leaders on the Steiner Waldorf Early Years Group for many years and has been involved in leading workshops and conferences for professionals working with young children and their families, she also writes regularly for the Kindling Journal on this subject. She completed the London Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Studies and became a Kindergarten Teacher at Canterbury Steiner School. To deepen this work and her understanding of young children’s development and needs she undertook the European Accredited Pikler Basic Training and then the European Accredited Pikler Practice Guidance Training between 2012 - 2014. She is the Lead Teacher on th NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Baby and Child Care (Early Years Educator).

    The second block of three one-day practical workshops in a series of nine to run monthly in 2020: participants can investigate the essential elements of Chekhov’s imaginative and inspiring approach to acting. Each workshop will explore a different aspect and can be taken as an individual event. All nine together offer an overview.
    Sarah Kane studied Chekhov’s approach to acting with many of his students in the 1980s. She now integrates this approach into her teaching, directing and performing. www.performingartsintl.org

    with Trevor Dance
    The main theme of The Soul’s Awakening concerns itself with the trials of those attempting to introduce the concepts and practices of spiritual science into the world of commerce and technology. Personal relationships and reincarnation and karma, the machinations of Ahriman, the ‘Strader machine’ and much else is explored.
    Trevor Dance is a writer and printmaker study group leader and experienced facilitator of Rudolf Steiner’s Mystery Dramas.

    The Friday evening talk will serve as an introduction to the Saturday morning workshop, but attending Friday’s talk is not a requirement for the workshop and all are welcome.
    The Saturday is a workshop on Goethean Psychology, an anthroposophicallybased approach to psychology which supports self-care, well-being and personal development, as well as having therapeutic applications.It is effective for the self-care of therapists themselves, as well as a therapy for the whole range of psychotherapeutic and counselling issues - all of which are based on an anthroposophical understanding of the human being.
    Graham Kennish will introduce Rudolf Steiner’s seminal lectures, which led to a Psychology of Freedom, paralleling his Philosophy of Freedom.
