Grünewald and the Isenheim Altarpiece

Friday 7 February 7.30pm - 8.45pm
with David Lowe

Regarded as one of the masterpieces of the Northern Renaissance, the Isenheim Altarpiece is little known compared to The Last Supper. The individual paintings which fold in on one another are increasingly more astonishing. The array of elemental and higher beings on display present many puzzles for the viewer whether looking at the actual painting in Colmar or looking at the paintings and their details on slides. Those who are able to look at the spiritual aspects of the paintings as well as what is artistically there can see that there are many deep truths contained within its colours and forms.

All welcome, no need to book. Suggested donation £5 / £3
